hi.
I’m Gabe
More than half a decade ago I began my practice in ceramics and immediately was intrigued with the subtleties and intricacies of the ceramic form. After graduating with a BA in Fine Art from WWU I began dedicating myself to creating meaningful designs for ordinary objects. Today I am isolated under the tall pine trees of the Northwest, working in a small studio of my own. My work is a departure from the general mainstay of pottery. Through continual practice and study, I have developed an aesthetic of work that expresses my gravity towards the simplicity of the functional form.
In effort to set my work apart from consumer culture my designs are stripped of any gimmicks and representational imagery that associates itself with trends. The constant shift in trends perpetuates the severity of throw away consumer culture. Omitting my work from these trends liberates me to explore the aesthetic of the functional form. Enabling me to create enduring objects through considered design.
It is my hope that my work does not demand your attention but rather shows a lucid appreciation of the space they occupy within your home.
