Community Guidelines

We are a queer-Latinx founded artist space. At RAIN Ceramics, we are dedicated to fostering a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive environment for everyone who enters our studio. Our community is made up of individuals with a wide range of ceramic skills and experiences, and we celebrate the diversity that each person brings. These community guidelines were created to ensure that our studio remains a safe, respectful, and creative space for all. By participating in our studio, you agree to uphold and be guided by these shared values.

Missed class policy

Students are encouraged to come to every class in order to get the most out of the course and fully understand the ceramic process. In the event that you must miss a class let your instructor know and they will be happy to bring you up to speed during the following class session.

Students may also schedule a make up session with lead Instructor Gabe. Students will be provided with a calendar link to schedule makeup sessions. These make up sessions must be scheduled and completed the week of the missed session / before the following session. For example, if you miss class on week three; you must schedule and complete a make up session before the week four session.

Missed classes cannot be made up after the original course term has finished.

The studio cannot provide partial refunds or credits based on classes missed. For example, if you are absent for two out of the six total classes in an Intro Course we cannot afford to credit you the two classes missed.

Refunds + Cancellations

Please email gabi@rainceramic.com with the intent to withdraw from a registered class with at least seven days notice before the start of class. No refunds are given within 7 days of the start of the class or workshop date, or after the class has started. For example, if your class starts on July 5th, then you must request a withdrawal and refund from your spot in the class by June 28th at midnight to receive a refund -10% processing fee. There will be no refunds or pro-rating options for late registration or missed classes.

RAIN Ceramics is not responsible for providing make-up days/classes or issuing reimbursements for classes changed or studio access days missed due to illness, emergency or other events beyond our control. We will try to accommodate extenuating or unforeseen circumstances. Please let us know if this applies to your situation.

We are a small team of artists in a one of Seattles more expensive neighborhoods just trying to get by. Our budget is very tight and cannot afford to refund or credit classes once they have already begun.

Health + Safety

Working with clay can be a potentially hazardous activity. Clay and glaze contain silica, which is a health hazard if inhaled. Our studio team regularly wipes down studio surfaces and we mop the studio floors each day, but we also rely on our community to help us keep the space clean.

To minimize everyone’s exposure, clean your area thoroughly using a wet sponge and please mop the floor around where you were working. Do not sweep the floors or dry sand your work, and minimize creating clay dust.

It is the responsibility of every student to exercise caution at all times within the studio.
