RAIN creative clay studio is a small production studio in the heart of Capital Hill, Seattle.

Intensive ceramics course will start with the basics of pottery and progress into more complex projects. We will cover everything from beginner fundementals of working on the potters wheel to more complex intermediate skills. This class will be structured for the beginner who wants understand every step of the ceramic process. In addition to project demos we will go over process demos. Learning how to reclaim clay, load a kiln and many more studio oriented demonstraitions.

This class is intended for the beginner with no experience in pottery but open to anybody of any skill level who would like to work with clay in a class setting. Class will begin with the basics of wheel throwing and forms ( mugs + bowls). As the class progresses students can expect to learn more complex projects (Throwing in parts, closed forms and more).

Class includes clay + glaze + Kiln firing (cone^6) + shelf space.

You will be provided with a set of tools and bucket for you to use.

RAIN studio is strictly a white wet clay studio with a kiln that fires to cone^6. You are welcomed to bring your own materials as long as they comply with those guidlines.

What should I wear? Pottery is essentially playing with mud so bring some clothes you dont mind getting dirty! Make sure to have long hair up for saftey reasons and avoid long scarves or anything that might drape over the spinning wheel head.

Bring an old dish towel to wipe clay off your hands.

Students will recieve a link where you may schedule time to be in the studio during open hours (when class is not in session).

All classes can be made up during the 12 week cycle either during open studio or in the following class. Contact instructor to schedule.

How is this session different from the 6wk course?

This class will cover all the skills in the 6wk course as well as some of the demos in the intermediate course. We will also learn skills neccessary to running your own pottery practice.
